I was thinking of getting E17 on Arch Linux for long.. lastly I did that.. just to start with I did it in Virtual Box… was a nice experience doing that… Installing arch and first configurations was not tough.. as I had previous experiences with that.. http://enitinkumar.wordpress.com/67-2/”Arch Installation Experience”!!

I followed all the same steps.. just kept GNOME installation aside.. I will now mention the steps followed for E17 installtion…

I Installed subversion, to get the latest development code of complete EFL, enlightenment and all. The enlightenment site http://www.enlightenment.org, has complete list of dependencies and the order of installation for various components of EFL, and the svn link to get the development source code.
After done with installation of all the dependencies and EFL, I installed E17 and Elsa. E17 is the desktop shell and Elsa is the login manager it’s still under development. By default it was installed in /usr/local/ folders. I added both of them in the PATH variable in /etc/profile file.
Next step, modified /etc/inittab to set default init level to 5 and added below “#Example lines for starting a login manager”, the line “x:5:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/elsa”
Only thing I missed was to install fonts, which made e17 look weird, install fonts by command “pacman -S ttf-dejavu ttf-bitstream-vera”. you can try out different fonts too.My basic e17 installation was done and up and running.. next thing is to install various softwares and widgets available for arch and e17.

Quite a tough one, but interesting one too!! Playing with it presently, but really missing a good documentation. And it’s still under lot of work, so daily changes making it more tough to work with. Hope I am able to give a good presentation tomorrow!!

Gingerbread @ My first Look!!

HTC GingerBread update.. that I got last night!! Brought some cool changes… still am not that much of explorer.. first change was shown to me by my colleague.. about the notification bar, when you drop it with notifications, you get a Quick Settings tabs for switching on/off Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS etc. Still you need to go to Bluetooth Settings to make your phone visible .. .. to the rescue Quick Settings tab includes All Settings option too.. Atleast we don’t need to follow the whole path.. Cool eh!!

One more change I found was in weather widget, it made sounds like raining, wiper’s sound, clouds moving etc. which looked a bit childish thing.. but.. for a change it’s ok ok!!

Biggest change visible is the icon for All Apps (in HTC Sence), and categorization of Apps as per downloaded, frequent. And the Apps list move one screen, separated by a separator!! It’s more easier to navigate now..

Now the thing that got me confused, it’s bug or something good.. .. while smsing.. that I do a lot.. when I search for names, it was giving some weird things, like no. without names .. .. list of nos. separated by comma(,), I think it was slow in getting the names for it!! that was quite a confusing thing…

I have spent just One hour exploring.. Hope to see some more changes soon…
And sorry, if you were looking for some performance related things, I could not make out if something like that really changed or what.. Anyways.. if I find something.. I ll post it for sure..

Dear Mommy,

I am fine, and I hope you too are… I miss you a lot… I want to share something with you… Do you know importance of time/being at any place on time, has always been a thing that I take care of and want others to do the same, if am involved in it!! I have always been like this, since childhood. Never used to be late… or better to say.. I can’t be late.. because you my mommy, you just used to get restless, if I ever get a bit late then my expected time to be at home!!! you used to get restless… waiting for me.. standing at gate.. looking for me…

I always used to say… I ll be ok!! I ll take good care of myself!! but.. you used to get anxious every time…. you were suffering from Bronchitis, still you used to spent most of your time in prayers, praying for our future… mommy whatever you used to wish for got fulfilled, but my wishes of staying with you. Taking your kiss on my forehead everyday, before going to office, like the way you used to do during my school days(I don’t think there might be even a single day that you missed, I ll miss your kisses on my forehead), I really wanted you to see me going to office…Yes, mommy I have started to earn… and that too really well!!

And with me staying away from you during my college days made you a heart patient too… when ever I used to travel from college to back home… you used to get ill.. because you were not able to sleep whole night!! So, some times I even tried not telling you, that am coming home.. and to my surprise those time you used to be fine!!

This bad habit of you, might have made me a good manager of my time… and because of that am always able to do my work within time, obviously properly!! But it took you away from me… :’( … now who gonna wait for me, staring at the gate… sitting on chair.. when I reach home… :’( :’(

Mommy, your loss no one can fulfill, but I promise to be always on time, and don’t take tension.. I will take good care of myself.. and papa ji, may be not the way you did!!! but in the way, you can be peaceful in your heavenly abode!!

Please forgive me, if I failed somewhere!! I wanted to be with you, just took a extra time then I should had!!

Miss you mommy!!! What you are doing right now??? missing me..

Mujhse kaha khuda ne mat kar intzar is janam mein uska milna mushkil hai….
maine b keh diya lene de maza intzar ka agle janam me to mumkin hai!!

Fir usne kaha mat kar itna pyar bahot pachhtayega….
muskura k maine kaha dekhte hain tu kitna meri ruh ko tadpayega!!

Fir usne kaha hata usse chal tujhe jannat ki nur se milata hu…
maine kaha aa niche dekh mere pyar ka muskurata chehra tujhe jannat ki nur bhoolata hu!!

Tilmilakar kha usne, mat bhool apni aukat tu h to ek insaan…
maine kaha ‘to mila de mujhe mere pyar se or sabit kar ki tu hi hai bhagwaan!!
